Marketing Executive - US Office

Cactus Language Training is one of the world’s leading providers of face-to-face language training solutions, with offices in New York & Brighton, UK.

We’re looking for a Web/Offline Marketing Executive to continue the development and expansion of the company brand through a vibrant mix of online and offline work. Could you be that person?

What do we mean by a web/offline marketing executive?

Cactus is big on the net, but a lot of what we say is written by English people. We need you be able to keep updating our websites to make sure the message is clear for our American audience. If you have web skills, such as Dreamweaver, experience of CMS systems or pure html, then that will be a big advantage, but most of all, you need to be capable of writing enthusiastically about language and language learning.

Based in NYC, you will also be expected to help kick start our offline marketing campaigns - we need to get the message out about Cactus, and we need you to be effective at selecting the right media to deliver cost-effective campaigns - not only in NYC, but across America and into Canada.

Reporting to the CEO of Cactus Worldwide Inc, you will also have the support of a dedicated web team in the UK and a UK-based marketing manager.

Role will involve:

  • Local and Regional Marketing Campaign Development
  • Traditional design and print management – flyers, mini-brochures, promotional goods, business cards etc., as required within the established branding
  • Updating and maintaining existing websites to current web standards & general web design
  • Work on whole campaigns with common branding, look and feel
  • Online marketing – design of newsletters and mailshots
  • Events & exhibitions – design and organisation of stand, promotional materials, etc. as required
  • Working on improving the search engine performance of our portfolio

You need to demonstrate:

  • Advanced Photoshop/Illustrator (3+ years)
  • A good grasp of Dreamweaver or html, and an ability to transfer your designs to web
  • Evidence of delivering quality creative work within set timeframes
  • A portfolio of creative print and web design

The skills we’re looking for:

  • Excellent communication and self-motivation when it comes to project management
  • Ability to build easy relationships with outside suppliers
  • Excellent attention to detail and English language skills
  • Ability and willingness to adopt and carry forward an existing and established brand identity
  • Genuine interest in our organisation’s products and spirit; an interest in languages and travel is advantageous but not essential

Operations Manager

As Operations Manager at Cactus Language Training, you will be working with a wide range of companies, private individuals, and freelance teachers of many languages to ensure that the language courses we deliver are of a consistently high quality.

Key responsibilities include:

Qualifications/experience:

  • Academic Management experience
  • Account Management experience
  • Considerable customer service experience
  • Computer (Word, Excel, Outlook) & web literate

  • A speaker of more than one language and an interest in language learning

Intern Positions - Available from 2 - 12 Months

Interns constitute a lively and cosmopolitan part of life at Cactus (please see Work Experience/Internship notes below). We currently have the following intern positions available now from 1 to 12 months:

Finance Department - Work Experience

A support role within the Cactus Finance Department: This is an exciting role giving the candidate an incite into how a finance department operates. You will be trained in various areas such as banking, foreign currency purchasing, sales margin reporting, and debtor analysis. Your experience will culminate with an understanding of the broader financial picture of a business.

Cactus Language Support

A support role within the busy Cactus Language Sales Team: The support role would include answering the telephone for our department and directing calls to other members of staff. We therefore require a near native level of English. Duties will also include using our in-house admin system to process orders and payments and to assist in responding to some basic customer enquiries. Daily tasks will also involve gathering data from schools, updating the website with valuable information, collecting stats and helping out in other departments or projects where needed.

Cactus Language Training Support

A support role within the busy Cactus Language Training Sales Team: The support role would include emailing clients for feedback and responding to their emails, collating feedback for the websites; collating statistics from feedback forms; sending confirmation emails to FLUK clients, printing & binding books; burning CDs; sending course materials to clients / teachers; helping to source teachers & other bits and bobs as required. You will need to have a near native level of English, good attention to detail, good written English, be proficient in excel, intelligent & amiable.

Cactus Language TEFL Support

A support role within the busy Cactus Tefl Sales Team: The support role would include advising people about doing TEFL(teaching English as a foreign language) courses, and signing people up to learn to be teachers all over the world. There are three of us in the department, all working at the same table so there is plenty of help available as you work!

The working day is 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 5pm Fridays, with a lunch break. The duties include office duties such as processing applications, entering details into and updating databases, learning to answer enquiries from clients and course providers, both by email and on the phone, faxes, mailings, office organization and general office duties, as well as some marketing/promotion, internet research etc, and generally helping the department to work more smoothly. From time to time attendance at industry fairs and events in invited to help give information to the public about Cactus services.

Work Experience/Internship Notes:

We sometimes offer general office positions for foreign students (non-native English speakers). You may be involved in many or all areas of the business, depending on your experience. You must speak and write excellent English (Upper Intermediate or above) and be ready to work for a minimum of 2 months. If you are from outside the EU, you may be required to combine this internship with a paid English course.

Please note that interns working for less than 3 months will not be paid. For those working for longer than 3 months, you will be paid £200 per calendar month.
However you will need to be able to cover your own accommodation and expenses. If we are unable to place you in our company, we may find you an alternative internship in another British company.
